Structural and material knowledge

Challenge

The course spans structural forces, material anatomy and defects, timber elements, protection strategies and seismic performance. The content needed to remain technically accurate while guiding an architectural audience through a large amount of unfamiliar information.

Approach

I organised the presentation around recurring section symbols, minimal diagrams and a muted material palette. Force diagrams reduce compression, tension, bending and shear to clear visual actions, while expressive house and wood characters introduce humour and reinforce key conclusions.

Outcome

A cohesive educational deck that connects structural theory with timber behaviour and construction practice, giving complex engineering concepts a clear and memorable visual language.
