Challenge

Urbanism lectures often rely on abstract plans, sections and terminology. The illustrations needed to explain spatial relationships clearly while remaining engaging enough to support a spoken presentation.

Approach

I transformed buildings into expressive characters and reduced each concept to a concise scene. Repeated linework, pale blue and green fields and generous white space create continuity while shifts in scale reveal relationships between blocks, courtyards, landscape and community.

Outcome

Ten flexible educational illustrations that give complex urban concepts a friendly visual voice and help audiences recognise the human consequences of different spatial arrangements.
